As an architect in Mumbai, our founder - Vishpala Hundekari, consistently integrated Indian handicrafts into contemporary interior projects. The response was overwhelming - clients appreciated the depth, the storytelling, and the cultural richness these crafts brought into modern spaces.
But there was a troubling pattern.
When it was time to reorder or collaborate again, the artisan had often left the craft. Some had migrated. Others had taken up daily wage labour.
The appreciation existed, The demand existed.
But the ecosystem did not.
By 2018, EkiBeki was founded to address this gap. EkiBeki — a Marathi word meaning duality — represents the balance between traditional and contemporary, craft and design, heritage and innovation.
Designs
We collaborate with architects, corporates, institutions, and public infrastructure projects to integrate traditional Indian crafts into contemporary environments.
When people think of contemporary design, they rarely think of traditional crafts. And when they think of traditional crafts, they rarely imagine them in global corporate spaces.
We bridge that gap.
Who we are

Using handicrafts as a tool for social change
Our mission is to help livelihood generation with focus on women and youth artisans by developing producer owned groups making largely handmade products and an ecosystem around them which makes them self-sustaining.
At EkiBeki we upskills the artisans so they live a more fruitful and richer life and we retain the beauty of handmade in a machine run world.
Our Work Includes:
